    Akai MPD32

if they stay on schedule, should be out 6 - 12 months. $500 MSRP hardly seems worth it though but if it hits $300 I might grab it. I need to replace this defective MPD24... lol

hooking up a keyboard to a computer

Yeah, you'll have to go with a usb midi interface. Most new pc's no longer have the older joystick port (at least not built into the motherboard). The Dimension 3000 definitely won't have one if you didn't request a soundcard (vs onboard sound). You can also try shopping for a cheap pci card...

Has the Computer Monitor Ruined your Vision ?

I recommend upgrading to an LCD if you don't already have one. Even good 19" screens go for $300 - $400. I'm on the computer 12 hours a day (work and hobby), and lot of headaches and eyestrain just went a way after I got this thing. At least at home. I'm still stuck with a CRT at work, but...

    Recording Software..Athlon Processors..compatible??

I just built a new Athlon X2 3800+ (dual core) computer to replace a dead 2.8ghz P4. I wasn't crazy about making the switch, but saw some good reviews and thought i'd go for it. After 5 days of using this thing with cubase and some plugins, I'm very suprised at how fast it is. Not to mention...

hardware advice. m-audio triggerfinger and midi keyboard

The trigger finger has a nice feel for drums. I'd recomend that, and a keystation 88es (by Maudio as well). Its a nice cheap 88-key keyboard with semiweighted keys. Should only set you back $500 incl tax for both.

    NAMM: Reason 3.0 Masterclass

I stand corrected, my local GC doesn't have it for that price. That is definitely a bargain. Kind of insane actually... lol.

    NAMM: Reason 3.0 Masterclass

Reason is not $130. The promo is they "lowered" the price by $130 (off of the normal price). And you upgrade for free.

    Sticky Show Your Setup!

Actually just got it 4 days ago, but so far I luv it. My first controller was the evolution MK-461C, and the keys just feel too much like one of those toy casio keyboards. The semi-weighted keys of the 88es feel perfect. Also, the issue I was having with some vsti plugins and stuck notes...

    Sticky Show Your Setup!

This used to be a dining room, but as far as I was concerned, it was just wasted space... Who really dines in this room anymore?

I would like to battle you for a first time. I heard a nice R&B track on your SC page. Just R&B for now though. I couldn't have touched those hiphop tracks. Miz

    Reason 3 Is *almost* Here!

Damn, didn't even know that wasn't possible. Never messed with the XT knobs while recording, but I could see where it would be useful.

Will a Dell get the job done?

Go for the 8400. By the time you configure one of the lower models with everything you need, you'll end up at the same price anyway.

MikeMiz is back. Did you even notice I was gone?

Registered a year ago, but haven't really been here much. But I'm back, and felt I needed to reintroduce myself to the family. No tears... no tears... everything is going to be ok now, aight? MikeMiz www.soundclick.com/mikemiz

Damn, Joined this site last year, but haven't been an active participant. Just had a listen to all the tracks for the competition. True talent around here indeed. Next time I won't delete all of those illmuzik emails. I think I could have slipped an R&B track in there on ya'll ;) ...

    Reason 3 Is *almost* Here!

That's fine, if you like to work that way. I prefer being able to play layered sounds live while recording. Think about what makes keyboards like the Triton and Motif instantly playable. You just turn it on, load a patch and play. You don't have to load the individual layered sounds or the...

    beat sales

Haven't sold anything exclusive, and mostly lease beats for this very reason. I don't own the lyrics to the song, so why should someone own the beat? Of course I want to sell beats exclusive for $500+, but honestly how many upcoming artists are going to pay that much to a stranger. I'd feel...

    2 PC's or more.

One strictly for music/games, and the other in the living room so I can watch football on the wide screen (while surfin the net.) Mostly used on Sunday's and Monday nights... Also use it for extra storage.

    Reason 3 Is *almost* Here!

Shouldn't be bad with a 2ghz+ processor... My only concern was the loading time for a combinator patch. Mostly with the nnxt if ya have a few of em in there. But since the sample loading is supposed to be about 5 times faster, shouldn't be too bad. I remember back in the day (<1ghz cpu)...

Will a Dell get the job done?

What do you mean by "can't put any outside or aftermarket parts in dell computers"? I know several people using Dell computers for music. I do agree with you about building your own computer. Just for me it happens to be personal taste, not so much because a Dell computer wouldn't meet my...

    Reason 3 Is *almost* Here!

Best feature for me is the combinator. I mean layering 2 or 3 nnxt's, a malstrom, a sub... /w effects, and being able to play it all with one key... a dream come true. Not to mention saving all as a single patch/preset.
