14 best VST plugin drum machines

Tried the MOTU BPM once, it's a while ago, but if remember correct, the workflow was a bit awkward. Geist has a much better workflow IMO. Can also recommend FXpansion Tremor for electronic drums.

Hey! Any tips/advice for the road to music production?

Make sure that the parts/sounds you use don't clash without having to reach for the eq (I'm talking about frequencies). If it's difficult to hear a certain part in your track, and turning up the volume just makes it drown out another part, it's likely that the two parts (or sounds) occupy the...

    Showcase - June 10-12, 2013

Kohie: finally managed to play your beat. Great, loved it! Mixing-wise, it's quite pumping, was that an intentional effect? Anyway, great track. Ayron, thanks for the feedback, i'll have a look at that synth sound.

Porekush: Really liked the mood of this one, but especially the middle part needs more variation (the part without the violin sample). IMO you've choosen good drum samples Ayron: Had no problems with the bass, listening on laptop speakers :-) Very creative use of instruments/sounds, liked that...

What do you use for mastering your tracks?

Thanks for all the replies, people. Agree with dacalions remark about what people will refer to as "mastering". Basically I want it to be loud and kickin' so it will match the loudness level of other songs online (please don't start argument about the loudness war), and to make sure nothing...

What do you use for mastering your tracks?

One of you asked what I use for making beats; haven't made that many so far, but use Cubase 5 and the included GrooveAgent softsampler (MPC-style drum plugin) and some free vst's (Shortcircuit and Highlife). Also have an M-audio Axiom unit. Relic; any tracks online where you used Har-bal...

What do you use for mastering your tracks?

thedreampolice: I totally agree that mastering an album should be left to professionals. However, I enjoy trying to master my own tracks (even though I'm not very good at it). And I don't have a record deal or anything that will make it worthwhile to pay someone else :-). As long as I can get my...

What do you use for mastering your tracks?

Hi! What do you prefer when (and if) you use third-party plugins for mastering? I use Cubase for music-production, but don't think the included limiter does a proper job. Does any of you have some advice about what I should by? I've tried demo-versions of T-racks 3 Deluxe and Izotope Ozone. I...
