Do you "songwrite" when you create a beat, or do you just make the beat?

    Who's working on what?

I've been working on getting my live set to where I can improvise a lot more. It's fun as all hell, I just keep making it more complex with each new performance.

Agreed with everyone else. With Reason or anything else, my stuff never sounds nearly as good before I put on eq and compression compared to after I do. I chop the lows off of everything but the bass and kick, and sidechain the bass to the kick so the kick stands out. That gets rid of a lot...

What DAW software do you use?

I use Ableton the most right now, and often rewire Reason into it. I've recently started to get into Logic, but I'm trying not to get too deep into it until I finish a couple projects.

    Omnisphere

Trilian and Omnisphere are both awesome! They sound so damn good, definitely resource hogs though.

    how about your drums...??

It depends on what I'm working on really, it could be different every time. If I'm using a sample, then that will definitely dictate the rhythm. I usually make things from scratch though, so that's why there's usually a lot of freedom. It could be a melody line in my head, a bass line, or...
