About my beats, and about some equipment

Lately I've been getting"Instruments don't match" from some peoples feed backs.I would say "I wasn't trying" but I really was.

My myspace page is http://www.myspace.com/beatman2

But I got alot of good feed on "ClubDestruct",and I'm not even sure why.It was something I was playing around with and just happened to put out.I've got a long ways to go before I'm actually considered a beatsmith. But my first 2 beats I got some feed saying the instruments dont match and w/e.I only do those beats because they're simple as hell. But because its used ALOT people tend not to like those lil jon-type beats as much.I'm trying other stuff right now.I'm gonna try to make those sad ass songs that is deep as hell and makes you think about whatever.Thats how I felt about Kanye's "Can't tell me nothing",which I think was done by Toomp.

Ok,now.I got this question about drum pads and preferably controllers in general. Now I see alot of videos
where people use MPC's and some use MPD's(similar to MPC but no sampler or drum machine).I plan to purchase a AKAI MPD16 or an M-Audio Trigger Finger. The thing is I don't know how people actually make the beats on these.Like some people make the beats to fast or too slow.So I was wondering how they do this.Like do they lay out the beat and go fix it up in a step sequencer or something?

But if you can, just tell me in general how to use a drum pad.

Please and thanks for your replies!!

Dam,that seemed so obvious.I wasn't really familiar with the metronome feature since I used the step sequencer in FL all of the time.I'm wanting to try out using pads because I recently started a new song.
I did the melody but no matter how I did it in the sequencer the melody was fast but the drum n snare was just off.

But I didn't want to get pads just for one song, but for some freedom off mouse with all the clicking.

Thanks man.
