Now with this, I'm very very surprised they're doing this because I can't see why someone would be buying this instead of the Renaissance or Maschine. When they came out with the Ren, I thought that was the direction they were going in because the MPD was never on point like the Ren, especially since it didn't have any software to back it up.

Besides that though, this new line of MPD does look really dope. It's very slick-looking and there's a few different versions, check it out:

The downside is that apparently Akai spent 6 years getting feedback and working on this, but I think they should have dropped it. The Renaissance is good but still struggles a lot against Maschine, so I have no idea why they would put out a new MPD.

But if you're looking for a controller to run software that you're really used to, these DO look pretty good. There's no harm in checking them out.
