First, IM not a rapper nor do I even pretend to rap, but personally I dont see anything wrong with it. As it relates to music, how many producers jack other peoples beats? even if its fliped so much that it's no longer recognizable, its still made by someone else and they hardly ever get paid for it. I also think that its cool that the struggling ghostwriter gets paid and gets some street credibility. As long as it doesn't change what rap is...the voice of the streets, it's cool with me, even if the voice isn't thiers.
I do feel like there should be a line drawn that they shouldn't cross...As a producer, you shouldn't just jack somebody else's beat and leave it recognizable, nor should a ghostwriter give his personal story to another rapper and not give credit to the ghostwriter. Thats just foul. Bottom line, if you're not a thug, don't put out a rap screaming that you are and you didn't even write it off top.
