I heard this documentary a few years back when it was on the radio. Must say it is one QUALITY documentary, and gives a really decent insight into sampling in hip-hop.

They describe Dre's "last episode" as one of the most popular rap tunes ever, - not too sure about that!?

was a good listen. i didnt know about this black market thing. interesting. its a bit shit really. i think it wack when heaps or artist put out beats with the same samples.

anyway, i have to disagree that the hotness of a beat is directly related to the hotness of the sample. crappy samples can be made to sound dope.
