yeah man, i only found out this was a Dilla beat when I found the video to share here. But when you listen to it now, the fingerprints are all over it. I had this album on repeat when it came out, havent heard the album for years. I remember a freestyle session on Tim Westwoods Radio 1 show, where he freestyled live while watching "Coming To America" which was on national TV, it was one of the most amazing freestyle sessions Ive ever heard. I put skillz in my top 10 for that one thing alone, was fucking hilarious and on point.Yea this is hometown right here. Skillz was reppin our area of VA hard back in the days. Him and all the super friends. Lonnie, B Danja, and Mowf etc. I had no idea Dilla did this at this time crazy! Timeless album especially for us in VA. Def a landmark. That sample is so sick how he made it into a chant.
Probably because he was "From Where???"That album was really solid but somehow underrated too.
I think going from mad skillz to just skillz harmed his career, I see hes mad again hahahahahaThere you go. One thread for Mad Skillz!
Ive never called him anything else personallyHe'll always be Mad Skillz just like FL Studio will always be Fruity Loops.
