Just found this, I don't know if anyone's seen/used it before, but it looks like (dare I say it) a beast freeware Reason. Worth checking out methinks, I'm downloading now. Definitely fun looking though, I'll try and get something crappy posted up in the showcase if I can get the thing working, as I say it looks like an absolute modular dream/nightmare.

Check it out at http://www.buzzmachines.com/

heh, buzz has been around forever :) :p
it hasn't been updated for ages though, because the developer had lost the source code (an electricity failure which resulted in a 100% damage to his HD).
the initial idea was creating a freeware tracker with powerful modular synthesis power.
buzz is the most powerful freeware app you'll be able to find, yet, it has some serious cons.
there are numerous machines available, but most of them have been coded by amateur programmers. that, plus a less than stable core code, result in too many crashes and bugs.
yet another serious minus is the sound quality. while not bad and even fairly decent, it is just not up there with the big shots.
my personal conclusion: i do not recommend using buzz, and especially not for hip hop (HASN'T BEEN MEANT FOR THE LOOPERS AMONGST US AS LOOPING ABILITIES\OPTIONS ARE EXTREMELY POOR).

Haha, afraid to say it but that sounds like my kinda software. You should see some of the betas which I have used in the past :) I'm gunna give it a go at making some stuff cause it looks like fun, maybe not the greatest for hip hop, but cool none the less. I think I'm just gluton for punishment really

Yeah. I started wit buzz(then moved to FL). It´s nice to play wit it sometimes but i cant recommend it. I can´t dig those sounds. Offcourse u can play wit samples too in it(there´s looper etc) but forget it. Maybe the best freeware but there are many better softwares

After a bit of playing my considered opinion is: Not great, it needs a better sampler and a nicer tracker interface but it is fun to play with as a modular synth. I'm gunna keep an eye on the buzzle project to reprogram it, thats just gone into alpha phase so I'm keeping my hopes up
