Cool edit question

Aiight sometimes when I record from a record (sampling) My waveform in cooledit wouldnt have any peaks on it. I've tried tweaking my Window's mixer but it doesn't help much. Any adice would be greatly appreciated

i think it must be the windows mixer, check if you got the correct record setting in it, prolly line in??
