Cubase SX 2...AUDIO LAG ?

So i finish a project in reason 2.5. I export the wavs..then import them into cubase to sequence and add effects.

ONce i press play..the thing starts to skip over the audio and play bits and pieces like its about to crash.

Mind you I have 1.3 gigahtz and 528 ram

so i press ctrl+alt+del and watch my CPU usage

when i press play on Cubase it GOES TO 100%

??? wtf


why does Cubase SX do that..or anyting for that matter ?

And what settings or such should i fix for this to stop happening.

using taskmanager already takes up so much ram,so for starters you shouldnt be using that to "monitor" whats going on while running cubase. u can use it to check ram/cpu usage and all that then close the thing. instead, you should press the f12 key in in the cubase window and monitor it that way.

and secondly dont be like my m8, who had similar problems, then i checked his task manager to see the processes running and he had a whole host of bullshit running when he didnt need them. from Dvd managers, to msngr, to screensavers, to clock sync, all sorts of crap eating into your ram.

with all that, Vst plugins, reason, cubase, audio editors, all running at once..you'll need bill gates PC to cope hitchfree.
