DJ Premier Production methods???

I'm putting together a lil lesson for someone I'm teaching how to produce and want to explain the art of sampling by using DJ Premier as an example.

So far I have this as the basic formula for what DJ Premier does;

1. Listen to records (or other sources). find something that has potentional and sample it.

2. chop sample up into smaller key pieces

3. arrange chopped up sample in best possible way.

4. add drums, kicks, hats, bass etc.

5. add scratching

any suggestions or comments for making this as good as possible?

use samples that match.

for eg, jazzy horns probably wouldnt work with a dark heavy piano.
