okay i wanna experiment with my keyboard...but i don't have a midi plug in (well my laptop doesn't)...so i plug it to a mixer which is connected to my mic input (on the laptop) and record loops on cool edit...okay so the question i have here is what filters do u reccomend for it to sound clear? another question is what affect would the midi connection have? would it be clearer if i hooked it up thru a midi? and does the midi have any particluar software to use it?

well first off its not gonna sound any clearer if u hook it up via midi since midi does not trasmit any musical sounds, just data.

midi is just gonna have your laptop talk to your keyboard and visa versa, press play on the laptop and the keyboard begins playing your sequence. ha ha i love midi.

as far as filters it depends what sounds your trying to make clearer, you should look into better conections (output/input) since thats probobly why your sounds are not "clear".

there are tons of softwares out there that use midi, someone else should answer that ?, since im not into all that and dont know...
you should look into a sound card with a midi in and out on it as well as auido inputs and outputs but again, i dont know much about that.

Very true Dice, You need to try something like FLstudio. When you use midi, you can change the sounds but keep the same melody pattern, but when you want to record those midi sound, you may have to run them through a external recording device to get those sounds from your keyboards audio out jacks. Or you can Recorded them in FL stuido, but your gonna need a soundcard with asio drivers I believe. Either way will work, but you have to decide which way is best for you. I have a Korg X5D and I don't use the synth on it because it is a hassle for me, I just use it as a controller and use vst instruments.
I'll get around to using my korg synth one day, but before I got hip to midi controlling, I was using cooledit to make music, but now I never use it.
