How to Filter out Bass IN SoundForge ?

ive been searching the forums and reading about how to filter out things to a certain degree like vocals and bass and honestly it makes no sense to me i no im suppose to use the Eq- Graphics , Parametric and Pargraphic things ive been fooling around with all of them and im still not getting the results maybe im not understanding wat knobs 2 tweak or watever but wat im hoping for is for some 1 to give me an example as to how i should set the little buttons like what frequencys do i set them to how many of the little points do i have to use ??
maybe if some 1 wud write a little tutorial outlining the steps it would help either that or im just a idiot and i should no this stuff with out asking but watever yo IF u Can Help Me Good Lookz yo

Right - here goes. Firstly for my money the easies to use of the equalizers is the paragraphic, so get that up. If you want to filter out all of the bass sounds the easiest thing to do it put a check in the enable low shelf, set the far right slider to minus infinity (all the way to the left) and then as you move the first slider along you will filter out more sound the further to the right you put it.

To do a more specific filter set one of the four middle sliders (going vertically) to minus infinity then move the bottom slider along to filter a different frequency. The top slider (above the number) affects the "Q" or width that you're filtering. This is all shown as a nice graphic representation at the top. Hope this helps

Different sound waves travel at different frequencies. Bass of coarse is in the lower part of the frequency spectrum, and snares are of coarse in the upper part of the frequency spectrum. If you are trying to filter out lower frequencies tweak the knobs for on the lower part of the spectrum. When you use the graphic eq on sound forge when you adjust the bands at lets say a frequency of 1500kHZ you are giving all sounds that hit that frequency a boost of gain or you are turning down all sounds of that specific frequency. The paragraphic eq you can use to boost a certain range of frequency or take out a range of frequency. The parametric eq is good if say you want to filter out pretty much all low or high frequencies cuz you can use low and high pass filters to only allow certain sounds to play. You just gotta play with it alot so you can determine about what frequencies you need to filter out. Its hard to filter out alot of sounds completely though.
