my first drum machine was a DR-5 and I like alot of the Roland products that come out. i wish the 808 had the same big ass screen as the 909 though.

just wanted to see what everyone thinks about it... not everyone (like me) uses an MPC. around the price of a 1000. ($1,095)

I don't think it's the successor to the 909.....OK..They gave it some things the most recent 909's should've had like: CF instead of SMART MEDIA, they extended the RAM also, and added motorized faders, but the 909 already had in screen automation....but the 808 is still missing all of the synth and sound creating capabilities not to mention turntabe emulation..and sample wave manipulation..I'm not even sure if you can add a SRX card to the 808 or not.....and as far as the screen, if you have a computer, you can use the 808 editor on your monitor....but you'd be SOL if you used it live... the 909 has been out for some years now....so it's kind of old. I think they brought the 808 out just to make money while testing the new specs for what will either be a new 909.....or the real successor to the 909. Hopefully they'll fill the gap between the 909 and the MV8000....I'd like to see that.
