Mixing without Visual Meters/Indicators

Here's an interesting one for you.. It's something I've felt recently regarding mixing.

What do you guys feel?

By no means am I telling you to not use meters! (Meters help us determine what's going on in our music!) But I feel that when seeing these types of meters like frequency analyzers.. they can influence our mixing decisions, making us hesitate to make more creative choices.

I definitely go by ear but like in the poll above, I pretty much just keep an eye on the master channel. But it also depends on what kind of tracks I have loaded up, like if one of them I know is a bit loud, then I'll check that too.

Ya, like meters are great! But I just want that listen to my music, not see my music kind of feel you know?

Then after I get the track where I want, then check out the meters to see for accuracy + comparison etc.
