Ive tried all of the DAW's but my for me the brain of my midi world will forever be the MPC.Ive had the 3000,4000 and now I just got my 5000 yesterday.Im now in the process of repurchasing all of my equipment that was stolen to build around the MPC5000 and need your advice.I love the Fantom G but its a bit of a hassle when trying to travel the MPC5000 is slim enough for a case but the Fantom G I dont think so.So I would like to slim down but would I lose alot of quality by just sequencing VST's and no hardware.I know this a big debate so let's not get carried away.

Should I invest in another hardware board like the Fantom or just rock with the MPC and VST integration?

Let's hear it!

if you don't want to have to lug around the entire fantom keyboard I believe you can get rack mountable fantom units. of course, you'd need to purchase a keyboard midi controller to control the unit, but overall this would make your setup more portable.

it's what I'm thinking about doing, getting rid of my computer.

I would run it like this

midi controller keyboard ->MIDI I/O-> rackmount synth

and then just patch that into the mpc via 1/4" and sample composed synth lines directly into the mpc.

Hope that helps.
