MPC Ponderings; HELP

I'm an MC and aspiring producer.

I often think of ideas for beats and sounds that I'd layer but I find myself unable to do this with the software that I use and am beginning to think was a waste of money (ACID Music Studio); it is loop-based and I despise this approach.

I am very interested in using hardware for production and I was considering getting an MPC-1000.

What do you think I should get to start out?

You should try it out and get a feel of what you like first and then consider buying it. Go to a music store such as guitar center and try out the MPC to see if you like it... which I think you will. If you have the money, then the MPC is worth buying.
