Here we go with a minor release from Akai, and from the video below it looks pretty good!

I like the transpose function a lot. So many times I find a sample that sounds great but it's not in the same key as my other sounds so I'm screwed. Being able to transpose is important.

They also have the chord progression option, something that Maschine brought out in 2.0 and it's very useful.

It looks like Akai is starting to once again catch up to Maschine.

They definitely have come a long way since the original release. Lucky for me, I waited a year and started with version 1.6 and avoided all the frustrations of 1.2. I purchased the Studio and it's a cool device. It makes things easier as far as tracking out. And now with things like track explode, and input sampling, it's my main unit for production. But I'm a old head coming from the 2000xl. So for the most part, I still use my 2000xl as the controller for the software. There's functions that can be done on the studio controller that you can't do on the XL, you have to use the mouse. But like I said, I'm a old head. So it doesn't bother me at all.

Peace Fade! If I remember correctly, alot of people were complaining about the installation for Mac OS, as well as constant crashes on Win/Mac. Pads not triggering sounds properly, bad Midi timing, and the software not living up to everything they said it would do. But one thing I remember from 1.6 when I finally decided to get it was the vst scan. When I say horrible, it was like x10! Overall, I think it was a rushed product. But they're catching up now, so kudos for that!

Hmmm ya I figured that. I mean, Maschine was great out the box but lots of little things missing or could have been improved. But for the MPC software to not work right away, that's not cool. Don't they have testers??

Seems like they would have some sort of quality control. The hardware is solid though. I almost went with Maschine, but I was just sold on Akai cause I have a history with those boxes. And right now I couldn't be happier with the choice I made.
