Whats good everyone,
I want to try to get some ambient ish out of my keyboard using FL. I got lots of ambient samples but it's time to start making my own. Anyone know what plugin to mess around with for this kind of stuff?
Peace,

This dude I know from the net makes this very dark industrial ambient type stuff. Basically what the guy above said is right. This particular fella uses samples and synth, and then makes all kinds of ambient textures using things like ringmod, or reverb. These both can add metallic, ringy (ambient) qualities to any type of signal. All I can say is, experiment loads. Also start to learn how synths and shit work better so you can actually start programming things you have in your head better in them...

things like good envelope usage can really make nice textures (try really slow attacks, or long releases), and lfos can give things very nice vibes and shit.

Experiment!

i think i can speak on this as well because the majority of my shit has some dark ambient element to it...

basically what you want in a lot of ambient patches is an airy quality to it...which means a lot of the bass is carved out...also, as the man above pointed out, in the asdr filter, your release is going to be relatively high so it can keep living and breathing after you release your finger off the key...other than that, its really up to you...square and triangle waveforms make some interesting ambient pads...noise helps too...just experiment...

Also.. on the ASDR tip, the attack should be big enough so every sound sounds smoooooth
