newbie questions about fl studio 4.5 and reason

Just wondering if anyone can tell me if its possible to use the keyboard from my computer to control sound in reason 2.5 using 'rewire' and fl studio 4.5? I ask because I don't currently own an external midi keyboard and given the price of the software, would love to save some cash by not needing to buy one. Or can you already control sound in reason 2.5 without needing an external keyboard (I don't currently own it so I have no way of checking myself)? If so, are there advantages to using an external keyboard to control sound? I realize these are some pretty basic questions but would appreciate any help...

To control tha sounds in Reason 2.5 w/out prgming it inside you DO need a external midi device such as a keyboard or a mpd-16.
Keep in mind tho, that you DONT specifically need to use a midi controller to make dope music in reason. Tha prgm is quite capable of taking on huge tasks by simply using tha editing tools provided inside.
To answer your question, you may want to consider what kind of production works best for you? Some people like to have tha hands-on much more.
Hit tha link below and listen to "inconceivable" - that was completely prgmed on my ox-8 midi keyboard...From tha fx triggering to tha drums. If you like real-time recording then youl like using midi.

Well, as deuce clarified - think small n cheap newbie. I suggest starting with the fl studio, it is cheap and there are tons of ways of pushing melodies out of this baby, with no need for a midi controller. Or do what I do get a permanent marker and a cheap white keys computer keyboard, labels the keys so you know where your notes are, til ya get the hang of it and you'll be surprised of what you can do. Stop by the beat this comp and listen to my track, i played all of the melodies "freestyle' on my computer keyboard. Then as you progress and master you can add on the reason and a midi controller, but thats when you reach the level at which Deuce is cuz Reason is one complicated piece of machine that comes with own aspirin. Its nice to have a controller or keyboard to get that hands on feel, this i think is the main reason why people get them for their software sequencers - cuz I know for a fact more and more companies are coming out with sound bank plugins that sound ridiculously the same as a keyboard.
