Pls help me connect turntable to PC

Okay, my set up consists of midi controllers (radium 49, trigger finger) laptop, audition, FL5, a basic portable studio. Staying on that track, I'm interest in getting the Numark PT-01, to start sampling from vinyl, as I've been sampling from old cd's and I want a new feel to my samples.

After the rant, here's my question:

It says this turntable is pre'amp'd and comes with a 1/8 headphone input, will this connect directly to my IBM thinkpad R52, it's got a good soundcard, but no RCA input/outputs.

Would this turntable be able to connect to my laptop without purchasing a seperate mixer? I'm looking to just sample sounds into audition and work with them from there, however I'm not sure if this is possible without purchasing an additional mixer? Please help me out, all help is much appreciated!!

yea u may need RCA input/outputs............cuz u recordin into ur laptop

Trife...even if i plug the 1/8" headphone jack into the red mic input? It won't record onto audition that way? Say I need the rcas, I need a mixer, one rca goes into mixer, the other into computer, but if my computer doesnt have those inputs then I'm sh*t outta luck?

ur gonna need the male- 2 female rca cord meaning itz a black cord (male) u can plug into the sound card n the red n white holes (female) u can plug the turntable into

I co-sign with Solace. It should work with the 1/8 inch cable from the headphone out to mic in. It WOULDN'T work with the RCAs...because you would need to amplify the signal and give it a boost before feeding it to your soundcard. Phono outputs need a signal boost from a preamp because the signal is too low.
