I want to use PT8 as a sound module and tracking purposes for my MPC5000 but confused on how to set this up.Basically Im looking for this kind of setup

-16 Instrument Tracks controlled via midi MPC5000 (for various Plugin Instruments)
-8 Audio Tracks via Adat for tracking my drums & samples out)
-Pro Tools as the Master & MPC 5000 as the slave

If someone could please post info on setting this up it would be a big help

Thanks

What kind of Pro Tools interface do you have?
I'm guessing since you are putting plug-ins on the instrument tracks you just want to use the MPC 5000 as a MIDI controller?

I don't know exactly what you have but you are going to need probably an M-Audio interface at the minimum a ProFire 2626, or if you just want a straight lightpipe interface the M-Audio Lightbridge will work too.

It also depends on what sample rate you want to record at, 44.1K, 48K, 88.2K, 96K, 192K? I believe you can record 8 channels via ADAT Lightpipe at 44.1k and 48K with one ADAT optical port. If you want higher than that then you need an interface that has two optical in's for 8 channels at 96K.

Setting up the MIDI Time Code is simple you go to Setup>Peripherals>Machine Code and set Pro Tools as the Master then go into the MIDI set up in your MPC and set it as the slave. Make sure you have both In's and Out's going to the MIDI into your Audio interface from the MP.

I think that will cover it for now.
