Question about the mpc3000

Forgive me for being so new Im starting out with this and I have a question that will porbably seem pretty dumb to yall but I dont understand, if I have a mpc3000 does that mean that I dont need a drum machine? Also I dont really understand what sampling is, is that like just taking part of another beat and using a different bass line on it? Any help is appreciated thanx yall.

Yeah the 3000 would be your drum machine you would not need another one. Sampling is any thing you record digitally and use in a beat, it can be a phrase, the breakbeat, or sound, You need to find somebody locally that produces and be a fly on the wall to fully get sampling.

The other question I have is if anyone had to recommend a drum machine which one would that be? The only one Ive seen is the BOSS DR-670 Dr. Rhythm Drum Machine. Is this a pretty good machine?
