I want to learn how to track out my beats in protools. I usually just track them out as a whole beat in realtime having to use the mute and solo to change up patterns while the beat is recording into protools.....This way is kind of diffucult and frustrating because if you mess up you have to start the whole thing over.......But back to my Question????

How can i go about tracking out a beat in protools ?????I want to also know what you do to extend the length of the beat to your desired amount of time needed for your song.....and also how to make the chorus and verse parts come in when they are supposed to. Do you just copy paste out the whole beat to where you want the parts to be or what? By the way i use the Fantom Xa......I need your guys help......thankx

once you track it out, just arrange the beat how you want to.

how many outs do you have on the fantom and are you using an mbox, digi oo1/002?

Well the fantom Xa has what 4 outputs right im goin off memory. Im not sure how many inputs your Mbox has but you go Fantom OUTS to Mbox INS. Now make sure you have sounds in your Fantom assigined to each output(max of 4 songs at a time) Open up Protools set it up to record audio from 4 ins on your Mbox. Im jus givin u a small senario i'll let da othas finish it cause i dont use Protools or the Mbox to tell u all the settings and shit. But i did own the Fantom Xa.

I'll tell ya what I do (which takes alot of patience)
I have digi001 and am using a triton rack mostly.
1 way is:
I run a 1/4 inch plug form the headphone out of the Triton into port 1 on the digi design(yes I can run it stereo btween the backs but just for this example)
I then create a new track in pro-tools(mono) and assign to port 1
Then I do a four count lead with a hh here
Create a new track assign to one and drop my kik let it run about 4 min.
Create new track """"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""drop snare run 4 min.
Repeat ad nausium.
Things that I need to be in stereo I drop it stereo but mostly mono gives me more control on drums.
Usually I have an idea what I want the switch up on the chorus to be so
I just drop those about every 16 bars and viola!!!
Now yes you can probably do this all with midi but Im midi p-noid and it doesnt work quite right for me.
so I drop it manually.
Im sure there will be better tips but thats how I do it.

How bout u jus make da beat like u want it on da MPC then copy and paste with in Protools which i think somebody already suggested. Its hard when u tryin to use all that high tech shit. Mess wit Adobe Audition 1.5 u have that right? Until u can learn da fundamentals of recording music. Just my two cents.
