this is what u gotta do. to answer your question as far as using your fantom sounds in the reason sequencer.no.unless u sampled the sound u wanted from your fantom into wav format and then used it in the nn-xt. but that could take forever to get all ur sounds out like that. what u could do is use a sequencing software like ableton live or cubase, sonar,etc... and run that sequencer as the host program and slave reason to it. if ur a newbie like i was about 2-3 months ago to software i'm probably talking french to u. unless u know how to speak french for real then i'm talkin spanish to you. p.s. you will need to be able to hook up your keyboard to your soundcard on your computer, that is unless you have an audio interface. if i've confused u any, just hit me back.

is not that u use ur roland SOUNDS in cubase, its more like cubase IS your sequencer. there's a difference b/t recording midi notes in a sequencer to trigger ur sounds in reason, where as when u use hardware such as ur roland, u actually record the audio from ur fantom into the cubase sequencer. you would actually record what u r playing into cubase from ur roland through the audio interface or soundcard on ur computer.then u slave reason to cubase and u now are able to combine both worlds of ur fantom and reason into cubase. this is how u combine the two worlds. think of it as using cubase to record the vocals for two different mcs on different tracks...one track the drums u played in reason, another track has the bassline from ur fantom, another track has ur synths, and other track and ecetera, ectera

If your computer has a bi-directional midi interface, you could hook up your fantom to send and receive midi from your computer. I don't own a fantom, but if the fantom has a usb port that can be used as a midi interface, you can use that as well.

Then you can use Cubase to send midi down to your fantom. To do this, create a midi channel in Cubase, set the midi-in of that channel to the midi port that the fantom is connected to, and set the midi-out of the channel to the port the fantom is connected to (usually they are the same)

You would still need to have the audio connected into an audio channel in Cubase, but you could set that channel to monitor the audio, and drive your fantom from Cubase's midi out. When you record, you can record the midi and during playback, the midi will drive the fantom just as it drives softsynths. Then you have the flexibility to edit the midi in Cubase if you wish.

The fantom should have a setting to turn off local control to elimate echos from both your keyboard and the midi channel when recording or monitoring.

This is what I do when I have my Juno-D hooked up into my computer, and it works great. I am using it as a combination midi-controller and sound module.

Of couse, this approach would not work with Reason alone since it doesn't support midi-out or audio-in.

Hope this helps.
