Software Controling Midi (Hardware)

ill o.g.
I seen a vid where a guy was using his fantom x6 and cubase together well he said he dosent like sequencing in his fantom and he said he dosent know why cats dont jus use cubase or pro tools to sequence there hardware thru mid....But I was wondering how would I use pro tools or cubase to control my fantom or motif soo all I have to do is record the midi in pro tools and sequence it out in pro tools then track the sounds out after im done?

I'm thinking via midi program sends. ..

But i'm thinking more, have the fantom synced up to cubases sequencer, and just sequence in cubase.. similar to using the mpc as a seqeuncer, and record the midi data from the fantom, and send it back to the phantom.

I guess he's saying he's already in a mastering daw, he can just apply the good effects and eq and all that shit right in the box. withtout having to try and mess with stock fx and tracking out. he prolly just sayin he thinks its easier and faster to get to high quality sound.

but im high right now so i dont know

i dont use pt but its pretty much the same for every program...you need to use Midi time Code with your fantom and PT so they play in time with each other, and you're going to need both an audio interface (to get the fantoms sounds into pt) and a midi interface (for midi control).

And a Pro Tools compatible interface for PT.
I just use Cubase.

I have the interface I jus wanted to know what I had to set cubase and Pt to control my fantom soo that it plays each track on the fantom right from cubase..Like say if I have 3 instruments on the fantom and I want to cubase to play em how do I set it up to work like dat?

U need a MIDI Track for each instrument.
Say for example, I have bass, I would insert a MIDI Track, set the clock up to sync with the Fantom, and record the bass from the Fantom.
The MIDI would go into the interface and show the notes in PT/Cubase, then go back into the Fantom, and play the sound.
Then u can fix the notes up, and when ur happy with it, switch to the next instrument, and same thing.
