I just bought the Soundfont feature for fl studio and am real happy with what SoundFonts are. i just stumbled on soundfonts like two days ago... If you don't know what they are then check'em out.... Nice Real Instruments

I'm almost tempted to buy some professionally created instruments!! But i'm really to broke to afford paying for Soundfonts :)

Peaceout IllMuziK!!

many of the "professional" soundfonts are available on many of the sample cds sold on the sites posted in the sticky. modernbeats.com and banginbeats .com all offer soundfont formats. The reason i used professional in quotes is because i ahve seen all kinds of people on the net simply take a collection of samples and label them as professional. For most drum sounds, odds are that sound is available free on the net somewhere. The only sample CDS I can really seperate as professional are ones that there is no way i could get the sounds and/or quality without investing a few thousand (example:getting a realistic sounding grand piano sample is going to be 300 meg plus and require expert recording techniques), but getting a drum sample that sounds like the neptunes can be done by many of the people on this board using free soundfonts.

by the way, i am not dissin those who make such cds because i know everyone don't have time to search for and edit sounds. a good place to start is ww.soundfont.com which is emu's site for sondfonts. they sell soundfonts including two that are supoosed to be hip-hop oriented "planet phatt and pure phatt". They are pretty good and useful as stock sounds to have on hand but none are groundbreaking. I'm sure someone on here can hook u up. if not , holla at me.

Yeah its cool, cuz i am one of those who make collection cds, but I have never labeled them "professional" I just do the listening and sorting and when I find enough great ones to fill a cd, I put one together. I am also glad you've clarified "professional' cuz I have yet to find a soundfont that "plug n play" meaning I can get sounds worth using without fx. But that emu set seem worthy of a purchase, thnks yo....
