First off, I gotta say this....

THAT SHIT IS WACK!

On the otherhand, philips already made bpm counters on turntables in the 80s. I cant recall the model but I saw it at a friend of mine way back.

But bpm counter is for pussy ass dj's and never really accurate.

LOL but it's still cool to have. Like the blue lights instead of the red for the power, popup, etc.

You're such a nerd hehehe

But indeed, blue leds are nice cosmetics.

wouldnt the readout be inacurate, cuz say yur spinnin a record and the song is a 115bpm song, but the turntable dont know that cuz it determines the bpm by the speed that the table is spinning, hows that work out

Yeah the bpm counters are great! I'm inventing this other turntable that actually uses a prosthetic hand to do all of the work for you. It's gonna be swell.

I guess, like the CD players, that there's a part of the turntable that measures the heavy sounds like kick and snare, and thereby determines the BPM. Don't know exactly how it works.

In regards to Formants post, I do agree that you're a wack ass pussy DJ if you only rely on the BPM counter, but I think it is a good aid for club DJ's who only play a little of each song before beatmixing it into another song, and use the BPM counter to quickly pinpoint the approx. BPM. However, most good DJ's know their records well, and don't really need it.
For me who has stopped playing as a club DJ, but get persuaded once in a while to do a set, it is a nice feature, as I am a bit rusty, and do not know my records that well anymore.

Also, the LED's are nice if the club hasn't got any lighting in the DJ area.
