    it depends on your production style me, I'm more of a sample-based guy even tho I could play piano, guitar and violin. What I do is I usually start out at a lower speed, say around 75 BPM. Then I slowly change the speed til my samples loop right. Usually around 85-90BPM. But like I said...

    Alesis ProLinear 820 2-Way Active Studio Monitor

    man I dont want to beat a dead horse, but monitors are your own personal preference. If you can check them out at a store, do it and see if you like them or not. In the pass, I used a pair of Bose bookshelf speakers that translated very well, even better than the KRK RP6 my friend has.

    i gotta say my favorite producer is Primo I like the way his drums are different than many other producers. He can make anything banging and dude definitely stays in the game.

    come on man. seriously. I'm a newbie to beat making and all, but as a hiphop listener, I think you should be able to hear it for yourself His drums are just "boom-boom-clap" the whole way, usually there's no change in patterns.
