Recreating only the drums from one of your favorite beats can be a good starting point to understand the rhythms in hip hop. I would recommend not to worry too much about...

    So in that case, the 'no vocal allowed' should be redefined. I mean, this rule is exact the same thing as saying you can't use 808's. Half of my library exists of beats with "vocals" because it's in the sample I chopped. I think everyone knows what an "instrumental without a hook" means.

    This has some nice melodies and a unique sound to it! One thing to keep in mind is that in most hip hop production, the drums are on the 'dry' side (especially a snare, to get that snappy sound). Are the drums a live recording? Keep it up!
