    backup vocals and dub trax

    what are some of your techniques for backup vocals? do any of you do complete double ups of the vocals, or only emphisize certian sylabels? how do you like to mix them? do you use pan to spread out multipul tracks of vocals?

    Harmonizing Samples?

    exactly.. find samples that are in the same key to start with. its not easy. pitch shifting and all that most of the time wont work. but then again some of the tightest beats ive made have been based around accidents, so keep chopin bendin and twisting, ya never know whatll come out

    yah lately ive been learning the piano and guitar. and recorded lots in my beats. i also get friends or people ive met to come in and play some peices. for me its way more satisfying. but i have hella fun sampling to. somtimes i will start with a sample build on that and eventually the sample...

    DAE. drive too slow or fragmented error in pro tools

    Im havin a little trouble with my computer. i had to reload windows (98) cause i had a crash during my defrag. I use pro-tools and now ever since that happened i get this DAE error every time i maximize the edit window while its playing. its not that big of a deal but its starting to get kinda...

    my advise to you is not to "switch" but to add. get more gear and software and use it all

    Whats the best vocal micophone?

    i use a sm-58 sure. it sounds tight. we got a bunch of other stuff kickin round for cool sounds.

    compression

    the compressor that came with pro tools seems to do the trick pretty nicely, but i havent much variety in my experiances with compression.
