    Timeport 2way pagers

man the timeport and star-tac remind me of 90's new york so much. that was all you saw for a while in hip hop, especially here, everyone was rocking one.

I just copped Logic Pro 8!!!

yeah man the manuals are no joke, they're way over 1500 pages for the new version. logic express is a good option also, most beatmakers would be fine with the features in there.

    Favorite Chords, Scales, Progressions

no need for jpeg's you can just write this down. all scales we're talking about here are diatonic- that means there are five whole steps and two half steps. a whole step= two half steps. just in case you're not clear on what i mean, take a look at your piano/keyboard. C and D are a whole...

    Logic Pro 8 is out!

agreed, the high end is more present and things just sound smoother overall. it may just be the more advanced pdc making sure things are in time with each other, cause the same type of sound change happens when you add a big ben to a midi based studio, but whatever it is it sounds great.

    EQ Plugins....

waves ssl, sonalksis bundle, or a URS eq bundle are all good options.

    Logic Pro 8 is out!

after using it i'm pretty happy with the upgrade especially considering the price. the new sound library is cool but not really all that much over 7.2, lots of these instruments they're advertising are exactly the same. also, they had originally posted on their website that there was a new...

    Logic Pro 8 is out!

just got my copy from the soho store today, installing it tonight. from everything i've seen and heard, sounds like they really delivered on this one. im gonna take a day off from the beats tomorrow and get to know this program a little better, i'll post my impressions after.

Is it really worth it getting a mac

alright this is getting pointless...the truth is, the price difference is very small if its there. not to mention an imac is great for beatmaking, a mac pro really is not necessary. use what you;re comfortable with, be it mac or pc. for me, i can't imagine giving up logic, and i like...

Is it really worth it getting a mac

if you have the money for an 8 core, thats a great reason to look at mac. and if data speed is what you need for your RAID, learn about fibre channel man. also, i knew your prices on both seemed high to me...maybe you do video work but i dont know many producers who need a 1,500 upgrade on...

    beats for days...

a lot of my stuff from earlier had a great melody somewhere that i'll just use again in a new song on a different instrument or something. sampling yourself can be good also.

if i could do it all again... i would not buy...

mv8000, thankfully i was able to return that one with no restocking fee akg k701's...amazing headphones but no bass whatsoever, so much for using them for hip hop production. focusrite saffire pro audio interface...crap a/d conversion, crashes my osx system consistenly during sessions.

    Rolling Off EQ

exactly as ash and others said- never slope that high up if there's a specific problem you're hearing at 300hz. sloping is great for cleaning up 808's below 15-30hz or so, or really any drums for that matter around that range. but if you're just trying to clean up some drums, especially if the...

    Swizz Beatz In Da Studio.

swizz is dope but he didn't make that beat for money in the bank. i do think he made the its me snitches one though which is crazy. same thing with the bust ya gunz song with drag, i think needlz did that one, that beat is sick.

    Consildating/Streamlining my setup

ash i just demoed the m3 this weekend and i was blown away. it shits on the new motif and even on the oasys (at least for the type of music we do) which I had been eyeing for a minute. anyway i agree 100% with your post- i've gotten enough money up to go get a few keyboards but i'm staying...

rza jocks the new mv 8800, talks about workin wit dre and shitalks fruity loops

i had the 8000 for a minute but sold it for the mpc4k and haven't looked back. i agree with him on latency though. dreampolice i hear where you are coming from in some respects but i'd say 2 things- first off you are incorrect about mpc's having internal latency. this is actually why roger...

thinking about going back to pc after many years of mac usage

a lot of sessions i've been in recently have had close to 75 tracks. so 24 doesn't exactly cut it for a lot of producers now. you ask any pro audio person about hard drives and see how many of them recommend 5400rpm scsi drives. its not 98 anymore man. there is better technology out there for...

thinking about going back to pc after many years of mac usage

yeah get a fw800 with 7200rpm. also remember to put any samples/vst libraries you are streaming from disk or vsts on that drive also.

    Justblaze video (& t.i)

yeah just has been using logic for a while now. also i laughed when i saw his 4k sitting right there, in heavy use. don't believe a thing you read in these producer interviews about gear, for the most part they're trying to confuse people about what they're using.
