Picking up where I left off. Thanks for the feedback ya'll...I definitely need to work on my mixes. Hopefully I'll pin it next time. 5th: word, lately I've been searching for different VSTi's and soundsets 'cause most of the instruments that come stock for MIDI on my PC sound cheesy as...

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/songInfo.cfm?bandID=425648&songID=3808915 I get the feeling that I overdid the EQ on the violins and reverb on the kicks, this mix feels a bit lifeless to me. The original felt a lot more raw, funeral-esque. My girl says that the climactic moment (you'll see)...

This sample proved to be quite challenging for me personally. It was rather difficult to peg down a melody...but I have everything tracked out and am about to go through the mix :p. I'll post it by tomorrow. Bigrob - I was about to review yours but your soundclick player doesn't seem to be...

Now that I give it another listen I know what you mean. The drums are practically hidden. I think this is something I've been struggling with for a while; I usually leave the drum volume fairly low while arranging everything to reduce ear strain and probably am so used to hearing them that way...

    Going to NYC April 18 - 20

Have fun in NYC, Erika. It's an incredible environment. This is only semi-related, but I didn't want to start an entirely new thread since we're already on the topic of "the music scenes" of various cities. I'll be heading off to college soon. Which of these two regions do you all feel has a...

    Soundfont vs. Vst?

I've got a stupid question... What exactly is the difference between a VSTi and a soundfont?

A Bunch of Newbie Question(Please Help)..

I'll be hooking up an old turntable to my laptop after I get a decent cartridge for it... My question is, is it recommended that you get a dedicated phono preamp, or will any old audio interface/mixer (planning on getting the MobilePre USB, but I've been thinking of taking the mixer route...

    Acid Users

I actually use both FL and Acid (a sin, I know...Rule #1, get to know one program well first). I've primarily use FL to sequence each individual percussion track before tracking them out on ACID. IMO, the step sequencer works well in FL, but for my purposes the playlist (and everything else)...

    interfaces:usb or pci?

I've been looking into USB interfaces for a while. Out of all the ones I've really looked into so far, the Mobile Pre looks best for its cost...approximately $150 (discounted) and provides a decent variety of I/O with good functionality. Were the other interfaces you've worked with USB and in...

    What's good, IllMuzik?

The name's deStructuralized, representing the San Gabriel Valley, southeast of Los Angeles. I've been doing this for a little while...not that great at it but my ultimate goal is to continue improving musically. I think the title "producer" is thrown around a lot these days...and seeing as...
