    Trunk Rattling Bass

you cant really good a good one with sine wave alone. along with the sine wave in a low octave and low pitch, combine it with a saw that is pitched higher, it creates a verbato and sound like a trunk filled with metal cans sorta. what are you using, because on the moog it has a setting where...

    Sampling

it irritates me when i hear allot of you producers on this site and on other sites bashing those who sample, then i listen to your none sampled joints and i can tell you there not easy to listen to. i cant recall any hiphop producer ever stating that he's a composer, even pete rock himself...

a good pair of headphones are fine, it would be good if you had monitors but they really are not needed, panning is no problem with headphones either.

    The right drum sounds

drums are hard, but once you learn em, you'll be bangin them out easily. leave some room for the bass, if your bass is really deep give the drums a eq boost at about 150-250 if the bass is more mid range, give the kick a boost at about 50-150. cut allot of the sound from around 400 - 500/...

ASR-10 keyboard along with the Akai MPD 16 pads

the mpc maps it across the keyboard the same exact way as the mpd does. the pads map in a different way from keyboard though. i got the mpd 16, its dope as hell with a few other options many regular midi keyboards dont do such as portamento and the use of expression.

    Sampling technique>makin serious beats!

im pretty good at finding samples, it take's me no longer than 1 minute recording it and putting it into kontakt for use. if you cant come up with anything u like within a half minute then throw the sample out, if you have a ear you can imagine how the sample will soudn when changing pitch adn...

    Finding the Right Bass Sound

i have to do the bass 2nd, right after i get some sort of sample loop. bass was prolly the hardest thing i had to teach myself. a good pointer is keeping compressed and use a low filter, if you need some mid range on the bass use a 4pole lowpassfilter. play with the tune also

    Sampling

i use a sp1200 still use it allot. but been using kontakt more often, i prefer kontakt.

    Software samplers

i use kontakt..complex envelopes...filtering and all that is really easy. nn-xt on reason isnt to bad either. but kontakt is like a sp1200 with or without the low bit rate
