    man wtf @ my computer(desktop)

If you've got everything backed up, then you're best just doing a full reformat (doing this will figure out if it's a hardware or software problem) Stick your windows disk in the drive, turn the pc on; it should say "Press any key to boot from cd" in which case the windows installer will boot...

    Logic 8 Tutorials?

Damn just copped logic studio 8, this shit ain't intuitive to someone that's used Cubase for 7 years. Was wondering if anyone knows any good tutorials for nailing the basics of the interface etc? Think my brains going to bleed if I read anymore of the manual at the minute.

A good computer and OS to produce music with?

I agree about the RAm prices. Which is why u cop the base Mac Pro model and buy cheap ram from elsewhere. Trust I priced up a PC of the same spec as the Mac pro before I bought it, and it weighed in slightly more. Apple seem to have got a ridiculously good deal on the xeon chips and...

A good computer and OS to produce music with?

yeah but my point being you'll struggle to find a PC with the same kind of hardware specs as the Mac Pro for that price.

A good computer and OS to produce music with?

After years of building cobbled together PCs, have just broken the bank and got one of the new 8core mac pros. I can honestly say I'll never switch back to PC again. OS X is as stable as an os can possibly be; it just doesnt have all the unnecessary windows conventions and bugs. Logic is the...

Since I have been in Audio school

Qualifications in this industry are completely worthless - not pointless, but not useful to getting any kind of related job. Putting it simply, when I did sound engineering at college EVERY tutor I had, had aspirations of being a big name artist or producer in the industry. And all of them them...

    monitor speakers

Don't really monitor at a high volume; just the real sub bass frequencies a lot of monitors can't handle (using them for a lot of drum n bass and dubstep tracks as well) so think think the RP8s are the way to go. Just have to gp through another couple of months of headphone mixing until I can...

    monitor speakers

big up for all the advice people. Shonsteez - the KRK RP5s were the main ones I was considering - you think it would worth putting the money aside for the RP8s? Just as I've found the main problem with the Alesis's I was rocking was distortion on low end bass (and they've got a bigger woofer...

    monitor speakers

Was wondering if anyone had any reccomendations for reasonably cheap active monitors? Been rocking Alesis M1 Active MK2s for a couple of years, and the power supply's given up in one of them. (the price alesis have given me for a replacement ps is about half the price of a new pair of M1s!)...

    How to sample

Never really got recycle. Always found it wasn't precise enough, making it pretty pointless if you've gotta go edit all the hitpoints manually anyway; it aint exactly hard work chopping a break up in soundforge.

Share a dope track from 2000-Present

x-raided is sick. garden blocc shit is way underrated IMO. Brotha lynch would've been huge if he had dropped an album on a bigger west coast label (death row?!)

What do you dig for? (Not sampling)

haha - no chancee. They're some real shitty pressings. Jamaican record plants didn't seem to to have the same quality control as US & UK - big heavy platters that seem to weigh as much as a plate; half of them with squint labels stamped onto them. Lovely warm bassy sound though.

What do you dig for? (Not sampling)

amazing. it'll get more expensive from here on in.. went to my favorite spot last week to pick up a blues record i was after, got that for £4; long story short - came out about £200 lighter, but with a big bag of rare funk and a load of studio one jamaican pressings.. You will make a lot...

    Saul Williams

yeah saul's crazy; a real rap poet. His 'Niggy Tardust' album was up for free download on his site, not sure if it still is. Beats on it are completely crazy (Trent Reznor on production); his self titled albums probably a bit more accessible if you ain't checked his music before.

    Mixing Software

Reason is somewhat different than the others mentioned. It is a dope little program; however the plugins included as far as mixing (eqs, compressors etc) are generally fairly poor. Also, it doesnt have the flexibilty of handling VST/DX/RTA plugins and doesn't have any facility for dealing with...

UK MC BATTLE Professor Green vs Stig

stig did some ill shit with the freestyle masons (stig, respek ba and possessed). Think you can get most of their battles on the jump off site.

    latency in nuendo - help!

I've just switched over to using battery for drums rather than rewiring reason's nnxt. When I play along to the track on my MPD16 evrythings bang in time ( latency is near enough zero). However, when I hit record, the sequencer seems to lag almost a full 1/16th note behind the track when it...
