    SONAR or PROTOOLS

The bottom line is what you're more comfortable with, but I would really, really, really suggest you go with PT. Its the industry standard for a reason. If you're trying to break into the (major) producing game today and can't track a beat on pro tools, you're gonna get some slim ass checks...

    Quick question....

You're talking about tracking, which is probably the hardest part of producing to do (tracking isn't only putting lyrics on the beat, but its part of it). Honestly, you're gonna have to break your neck to do it properly, as far as industry standards go, without Pro Tools (thats why you hear...

    New w/ Fruity Lops

It just takes time man. When I started using FL about 6 months ago I was making the most horrendous, robotic beats you can imagine. But once you get over that hump, and it just happens all of a sudden, you start to understand how to manipulate the program to do what you want. I know that...

I just sent my beats to be Copyrighted

the problem is man, this really doesn't do as much as people like to think it does. There are so many ways to jack a beat its not even funny. Don't think that having some slip with your name on it in DC means people won't steal your beats, trust me. And most of the time, they will get away...

    help with cpu getting high

if you're using XP turn all visual effects off in your control panel for windows...you won't believe the difference this makes.

Who's your Fav. prod. and why?

I gotta say Hi-Tek. JB, Alchemist, RZA, Dre, Cool & Dre, Neptunes...all of them are up there, but Tek is just a f-ing monster on the samples. I still maintain that "The Sun God" is the most impressive, intricate, and deep beat I've ever heard. Plus you combine the recent commercial beats he's...

    Converting MP3's

You can but you're not getting the same quality you do if you take it straight from CD or Vinyl to WAV. It's like making a copy of anything...a second copy (in this case your wav) can only be equal to or lesser than the quality of the original. mp3ing, especially if its not at a bit rate over...

    Mixing a White MC

True but let's be honest here y'all...in general, white people have a lot less bass in their voice, and this does apply to most (read: not all) white emcees (and I remind you all this is coming from a white person). So while everyone's voice does get EQ'd differently, realize that for the most...

    Mixing a White MC

It's sad that our society has become so politically correct that a valid question like this just gets assailed by a lot of people on this board. I've been fortunate enough to be in the studio with a couple of big name producers (not working with, just watching and blazing) and I was...

get to the point in your production-<--

Your original post is talking about composition vs sequencing, with a debate about comps vs mpcs mixed in. When you talk about banging out a beat ont he mpc, thats composition. If we're straight up debating just sequencing, just taking the sounds you have and layering/ordering them, then...

get to the point in your production-<--

I mean you're talking about two different things man...sequencing is really, at least to me, just the literal sequencing of the sounds you're using in your track. I don't know why you'd use the 1000 of all MPC's to sequence, as it has really limited sequencing features compared to the 2, let...

    Yo yo whats good

I mean any keyboard like a Triton or ASR could technically be called a MIDI keyboard. But when I say MIDI keyboard, I'm more referring to a simple M-Audio style keyboard that doesn't have any sound banks or the features of a Triton or ASR, but can just have samples loaded onto it. The Triton...

    sampling

haha don't get down on yourself for not sounding as good as 9th...9th is an absolute beast on that program and amazingly doesn't even use a midi keyboard or any sound modules, he just sticks completely to FL and an editing program. there's a downside to that though...no disrespect to 9th but...

    Yo yo whats good

Im not really sure what your budget is...i mean there's so many different directions you can go in. First thing I'd say is don't be opposed to computers. These aren't a joke anymore...reason is a professional quality program that's earning users as talented as Just blaze (no joke, I heard JB...

quick question (FL an vsts nshyt)

There's a folder in the FL studio program files folder where you need to move it. Also, at least when I installed it, it didn't show up in my channels list...I had to go to something in the add channel list like "more" to click the Sampletank option and then it appeared in the menu.

    Hi-Tek's "best friend"- production question

Yeah im trying to get into producing just cause it interests me more. I used to think i wanted to do the more corporate thing but now i see myself producing more...we'll see how it turns out. Right now there's no conflict or anything since my beats def aren't good enough to get sold haha...
