I think the main thing to look for in a soundcard is low latency. The A/D convesion is not as big a deal these days if you're using virutal synths. I'm curious which soundcard in the 100 to 300 range gives you the lowest latency... -

I'm a samplist from day one, however the right synths and vsti's can create some funk if you know what you're doing. I actually find the two kind of similar, with sampling, you dig through vinyl until you find a sound that catches your ear, then you sample, chop, and play it back. With synths... -

Has anyone here ever cleared a sample?
I know there are agencies you can pay to do the legwork, they charge $500 per song, then you have to give up publishing and / or pay a licensing fee. Has anyone here done this on their own, without a middle man? Thanks. Edit - I see Wings already brought this up...
