For me it's the opposite, I find the main sample, chop it then make the drums. Once I got the skeleton of the beat I add to it (bassline, one-shots, etc ...) and mix.
Yaw Dac, Trust me there are lots of "Scratch Deejays" with poor blending skills. Btw Fade lemme know if you need help with the show, my technique's not the best but I can hold my own.
It's a nice track that's for sure ...but it's old ! The "new" Kanye doesn't make that kind of soulful beats. In my opinion he's way below Preem, Pete Rock, RZA , etc .... my 2 cents.
