chopping up samples
I'm an Edison fan, I like SliceX as well but Edison does the job for me...I just highlight the section, set my Autochop to medium and tweak my chops from there - no hotkeys required =). SliceX is a beast though, the 'Dump Score' feature is as close to using a hotkey as it gets...check this... -

I stand corrected...they did get sued but it was by 2 of Chic's members and NOT the holder of the Mastering copyrights...Here's the article from Wikipedia... They eventually got sued again by Grandmaster Caz but I don't remember how that turned out. -

I think ideally it's the best but realistically it's not. If a rapper isn't OK with how he sounds, it will translate in the recording. Different mics have different characteristics so...I would be looking at whatever makes the rapper feel more comfortable/confident in what he's spitting on. jmo. -
