has anyone tried hooking up a guitar amp modeler to a keyboard? i was thinking about this casue myboy just copped one...shit is sick, the amp modeler has in and outs and midi capability....were missing a couple cables to hook it up..were gona try and get them tommorow.....but has anyone done this? I figure you make some sick sounding shit because look at all he sounds u can make out of a guitar ...imagine a keyboard with 1000 voices.....feedback please

well if anyone cares it did actually work...me and my new producer partner are planning to incorporate this some in of our tracks..the modelor makes alot of those dry keyboards more livey and "warm" because of the compression and distortion...

Amp modelling works on the basis of algorithms structuring sound information into a model similar to the one analysed by the programmers and individuals that were called upon to make the modeller. Theoretically, the mathematical procedure involved is usually good, depending on the company making it, thus, a good "real amplifier" sound can be mimicked. In essence however, if the mathematical basis upon which the modeller programme is created from is good, then the amp modeller should be good.

However, if it is not, the modeller should still colour the sound enough to make it distinctively different and somewhat more appealing than the dry sound you started out with.

What I described is applicable to software and DSP based hardware broadly. If you are using a simple POD however for colouring, I think you should look for a better solution for amp modelling. Even the Pro-Pod would be a better choice.

I connected my yamaha djx-1 into my roland cdx-1 which has cosom effects (guitar modeling effect) in it...it sounded mad sick.
