Barebones kit

I was thinking about adding a customized pc to my current setup,so I'm opting for a basic barebones kit that I can upgrade

1.Whats a good barebone's kit for about $250
2.Which should I stick with if I just want a pc for sample editing and audio mastering?(AMD or Intel Penium 4?)

About a year ago i upgraded my PC, so I did a bit of research on Intel vs.AMD. Basically, AMD is slightly better or so than Intel when it comes to audio processing on its chips. That was a year ago, so now it might be a whole different story.

go with an AMD barbone and maybe an external usb soundcard.
