also personally, my own beat was frankly uninspired & shitty cuz the first time I ever experimented with that mpc thingy. it's not REAL mpc but I chopped the sample and assigned it to diff keys and... basically tried a version of the classic way of sampling for the first time. it's pretty fun! I still like my old daw-playlist method of sampling more, it's way more controlled, but this method is pretty fun and gives a completely diff perspective. will defo try it later too.

This is what I started doing. And I made some pretty dope beats. Actually maybe some placed. But I feel like they don't be doing what my usual be doing. Don't get caught in the trap lil brother

@Primz i voted for yours i thought that was straight fire, the only thing i will say is at the end of the intro when the beat drop i kinda expected more, it felt like it kinda fell flat after the build up. Just my take overall still my favorite, great vibe and very good use and timing to combine those elements.

@BrianAkaBear yours was my runner up, not sure if you made the melody or sampled it but the vibe was nice.

I have alot to work to do, i didnt expect to win but it was definitely fun and awesome hearing how creative you guys get.

There was one I would have really liked but I felt like it was trying too hard to be what it was. Had like load of these elements trying to do a thing. But felt a bit forced and also a bit artificial.

the vibe is lit af but the whole production is a bit too all over the place, every element is screaming it's own points

My kinda vibe. But I think it was like trying to do too much. This could have been like a NBA 2K anthem, has that vibe. But needs reigning in, congruence.

There was a couple interesting unique-ish beats I liked too.

I went with the one I felt just fit together right. It felt congruent with itself.

@SwayeeBoogie I knew this would be yours. Not because I "identified your sound", but because it has that quality of sounding like it "goes together". The musical aspect, and the mix, individually and collectively it all sounds 'like a thing'.

This is a quality I look for, and also one I feel mine often have.

It's the key ingredient or 'magic' to a song/record that would actually succeed. It sounds like an actual song. Like it was meant to be. Sounds complete.

And I can even identify that through phone speakers.

When you've got a 2 minute beat length limit, probably not wise to go with a 45 second intro.

Even a 30 second one can be a bad idea, thats quarter/25% of your song, unless it's a musically amazing intro.

It was a decent effort, good drums and a decent groove. Something a little off musically for me, but the aesthetics and texture was nice too.

Kind of a bit phonk-ish.

jokes aside, it sounds alright, pretty 2009. I think if we were to sell beats in the site, out of these 17 this one would be the first one that interests a rapper. it's nothing insane but it's relatively pretty proficient and modern. sounds cool to me.
