Recently ive had my eyes set on getting a multitrack recorder because im not really into all the software stuff but I found out that I could sync Pro Tools to my Fantom-X6 thru the new MBox 2. A multitrack would cost me around $500-$800 while the MBox 2 alone is around $400 plus i would need a computer and monitor. I wanna use Windows XP instead of Mac OS and the compatitble computers on digigesigns websites are expensive! My budget is around $1000.

Yah if you want a nice computer I say just custom build. However, don't always look for the cheapest sometimes that can come back to bite you.

Do not just get the cheapest you can find....Make sure it has all the requirements needed to run..chipset.etc it will be on the digidesign site then find the cheapest from there. If you buy everything seperate and built it yourself you should have more then enough.

Yea, you can take shortcuts on hard drives and memory for now. Then in a month or so you can upgrade to more RAM. Second or bigger hard drive. Lots of ways to go about. Don't skimp on the important components like the Motherboard or Processor. As these affect everything else. If you only get say, 512MB RAM now, you still have 3 slots to upgrade to more. You can also replace the original 512 stick with a 1GB stick later as well.
