yo, what effects do you use?
waves effects are dope, i use anteras tube also,

how do you feel about pc effects vs. hardware effects (filter,delay,
compressor,distortion)?

I've been using the Cakewalk Audio FX for a while now and they have some dope presets in there. I've wanted to try Antares but never got around to it.

yea...i use cakewalk audio fx in sonar and the reverb is great...
but as far as "phatening" your sounds...waves does the job...although it takes a huge cpu

Yeah that's the problem with software effects, you have to have a good PC to run them. Especially real-time! I'd like to get some hardware effects racks eventually, especially for reverb 'cause I've heard some nice ones.

I use Waves stuff, UltraFunk, and PSP stuff the most probably. I dont think I'd ever switch to hardware effects. I like to keep everything inside one environment and have access to it instantly.

People say some hardware effects are better but to me they're not good enough to be worth the hassle. When I open a beat I want all my shit to be there instantly and ready to go. Plus the ridiculus prices and room they take is crazy. Plug-ins are getting better too. SiR Convolution Reverb is the best reverb unit I've ever heard hardware or software. You can use impulses from all those thousand dollar hardware units and apply them to your tracks all within your computer. No hardware needed. It does take a lot of CPU tho but its dope.

A good way to get hardware type sound into your computer is getting something like a UAD-1 or TC Powercore. I dont see how hardware effects can even survive in a few years. They better get their shit together before they go out of business.

Pretty much hardware can be a hastle. mostly i use the effects that came with my protools setup when making beats and then if i want some sick vocal effects ill use the hardware. sometimes theres nothing like a nice spring reverb pumping back thru the lyricists headphones to make him perform like he never has before
