Connecting sequences

ill o.g.
maybe add an extra pattern where you slowly bring in one or more of the elements from the next shit...

or drop shit out for the last beat except maybe the drums (or vice versa) right before the new pattern...

use fills, breaks, cuts, etc...

and ya my mans advice of using something to beef up the first beat is solid too, but thats something you should be doin regardlessly :p

Listen to old music and see how they transition things. The trick to getting your sequences to flow together is composing them with a whole song in mind and not just a couple of dope sequences put together.

All of things people mentioned are awesome and will be good to experiment with, but to get better all the time at sequences listen to song structures and try to see what they are doing and then apply it to your beats!!!

Exp, see how the pan and mix the drums (old school soul has drums hard panned to the left or right), see how the bass notes are walking or driving certain parts of the song (bass might be more active in the chorus then in the verses, etc.) All of these little things account for how the sequences will flow together!!!

Good luck!
