I have the option of getting a mpc 2000xl or 2000xl mcd the regular xl comes with a few sample cds and cd drive the xl mcd comes with one sample cd. I do us cubase as my DAW so I was thinking the 2000xl mcd would be easier to use with my cpu setup...... the reg 2000xl is 50 dollars cheaper. I never used a mpc before thoughts please.

Finding samples shouldn't be what influences your decision, cuz finding samples is really easy. But a CD drive... now that's something else...

Is your mind already set on buying an MPC (so you're asking only which one to choose) or are you asking if you should buy one or not...?

First off sYgMa thanks for all your advice yeah I'm set on a mpc I like reasons and all but I want to feel like I'm doing something other than pointing and clicking. I'm going to get a mpc..... I'm just trying to figure out which one 2000xl, or 2000xl mcd I could get the 1000 but I really want that autochromatic feature.

THe multicard reader is the only difference between the 2. I have a 2000xl and had a multicard reader put in (so now I have a homemade 2000xlmcd!). They will both do what you want in Cubase, exactly the same. That involves your midi ports, not the data drives. The sample CDs that come with the MPC is garbage, unless you are getting it from a private owner.
