Hiya folks,

anyone got any tips on making free drums in reason? i mean as opposed to using redrum or the rex, just building unquantized drums and building a melody around them, or making ur own drum loops for the rex. I know my way around redrum but it has its limitations, ... and whenever I try to build 'em loose the track falls to pieces on me. likewize if I try to build a melody first and build the drums around it.

cheers

Let me rephrase... me being New to Reason but a Beat Junkie on Software
i would say Rerum has alot of untapped Power if u can discover how to take the
Drums to the Paino and Roll them..also if u tryna make a KILLER Drum layout
on Redrum..i use a couple of different drums together..to get that Knock effect
and u can always backdrop Drums to get that Echo..i mean from my Point of view
Reason is like No Limit 2 it...i havent saw a limitation yet..but maybes thats because
i love the Software and think its great

P.s its a way to take all the Redrum sounds to the Drum Line..and use it like a MPC with the
keyboard..thats pretty FREE ?

i use redrum a lot for my drums and a lot of people have compimented me on my drum programming and sounds if you learn re-drum theres no limit really, or just get a trigger finger or sumthing and tap the beat out on them !

Ditto, i use Reason Redrum also, and even tho i just started out. my melodies suck, but people comment me on my drums and whatnot. So, i'd have to agree. So with Redrum.

id also suggest writing them in in the sequencer if you dont have a midi controller you can easily play em out just by using the pencil tool

i usually play with the redrum using the midi keyboard, then program it in or just press the record and record it in if it doesnt sound the same

This is a program for unpacking the sounds in Reason http://www.speakersex.com/Refill_Viewer.zip ao you can use any of the sounds in Reason on your MPC. Hope that helps.
