Clickbait title but i’m kinda serious.

I don’t know if any of you have read about the dead internet theory

And I don’t agree with it myself, but doesn’t it kinda seem that’s way? Like half of the internet isn't even real anymore? Social media is bright and flashy and messing with our collective attention spans in rather troubling ways.

With the rise in AI and auto generated content we find ourselves in a nosy world that gives our dopamine what it needs but it makes it so we can’t concentrate. We can’t truly connect with each other as we post our fake photos what the life we pretend to have.

Illmuzik is an amazing example what the internet SHOULD be. A group of real people discussing a real topic and helping each other. I have been on here over a decade and still talk to some of the same people. I have had multiple people from ILL fly out to work with me over the years. Heck I have talked to Fade on the phone over the years several times, how weird is that in this day and age?

I know this place seems like just a production board sometime but I would say it’s a shining example of how to use one of humanities greatest inventions in an amazing way. Keep it up Fade! We need places like this more than ever as the isolation from social media use will keep growing.

Food for thought.

I have met a member that came down to the studio and spent the evening. Also had a member come and meet from New York.

The free and open internet is dead, what's its become is a control grid and if a crazy lunatic that just barbequed himself is right, and personally I'm on the same page as him in many regards, without the making myself into barbeque part as to what is in our very close future, then things are fucking grim for all of us.

Hopefully the lunatic and me are wrong and the billions wont allow a tiny elite of sexual deviants take fascist totalitarian control of the Earth, I'm not very hopeful though, I know history, and those that don't are doomed to repeat it.

Thank you for the kind words.

It's funny though, I was just reading about the Dead Internet Theory the other day and saw comments where people were reminiscing about the late 90's/early 2000's where it was mainly tech-savvy people online, not everyone's parents and grandparents. It was when the internet was shiny and new so there was tons of explore. Remember webrings? You could just go down this rabbit hole of personal homepages and forums, and make tons of online friends, some you would end up meeting in real life.

Forums are what really made things interesting because they're built as communities, which social media is definitely not. Even Discord is not even close because it's not formatted like a forum is, it's more or less a giant chat.

But of course like anything nowadays, money came into play and everything has to be monetized no matter what. Everyone wants to make money online now, especially corporations so this is where we're at now. So if that means that people and companies flood the internet with bots posting fake reviews, and people posting AI images and songs, that's what they'll do because they want to monetize it.

The spam has gotten so bad that a while ago I had to lock down the signups here. Now when someone signs up I have to manually approve them. You wouldn't believe how many spam accounts sign up here daily. It's really annoying and time consuming too.

I just wish everyone today would realize there are still forums around, not many, but they're there and they're special. There used to be a forum for any type of topic you were into but now it's so common for everyone to just search Reddit or YouTube for answers and not bother actually socializing with anyone online.

I miss conversations like this here. We used to chew the fat over all sorts of things. Its a shame how things turned out, and the world wide web that was meant to be our liberation became our slave master. I hate control freaks, I fucking do, with a passion. It's really ironic in an age when we have the most information at our fingertips that ignorance, self importance, and a sense of moral superiority has taken over. We have become a world based on peoples fragile feelings, instead of facts, logic and science.

Yeah true. My friends and I used to goof around in random chatrooms and eventually we'd find something decent. Hell, I remember trying to infiltrate random lesbian chatrooms lol. Good times.

But it was fun if anything. Chats like ICQ were great because it's just open and you just chat and see what happens.

For me though it was just stumbling onto random sites, there was a lot of great stuff there. My first site was DJ Fade's Scratch Site and I posted about scratching and pictures I had taken around town of various graffiti. I had a guestbook and people actually were checking out the site and posting. It was so good to experience that. Again, just random people you meet up with. Community.

When ILL first started there was no one here and slowly a few people signed up because I had posted about it on UGHH. It's crazy how far we've come.

But as long as people sign up here and hang out, chill, talk about whatever, that's what matters. And just to let everyone know, I've never given the NSA a backdoor to ILL. I've never given ANYONE access to my backdoor.

I fucked quite a few girls because of internet chat rooms. Those were the days. My geek self no longer had trouble getting laid. It was an epiphany for me.
I guess I made the mistake of trying to chat with lesbians. I should have stuck with the other rooms.

When digital archaeologist comes along to rediscover the digital remains of humanity, it will be based upon the ill.

Wonder whether they'll think of Fade as God Pharoah of Prophet. And the illogs the deciples/prophets.

And the legendary weird creature known as Arvin. And that bots ogbama lived amongst them.
