Im considering getting a mic for the studio.....

Ive been looking at Rode Mics, and I like the look of the NT2a.
We have a Rode mic in the studio, Im not sure of the model, but I like the sound of it, It has a good wide frequency response, we also have an SE mic but that seems to be lacking in the bass, but is clearer.
Im looking for a decent studio mic, not really interested in the shure, I think thats more of a home production mic and not so suited to the studio recording environment.
At the moment I think the only thing we will be recording is vocals, but might expand in the near future to session recording.

Anyone got any tips or advice?

I don't know about the SM7 (looks great though), but the one I use on the Attack of the Beats! show I've had since 1995! Shure SM58. Great mic, very rugged. Mine's taken a beating, had MC's drop it on the floor, banged into the wall, etc. Highly recommended. No matter what, you can't go wrong with a Shure mic.

i've heard of people using the SM58 as a hammer before a show, and then turning around and using it to perform with....rock solid.
